ATAK Interactive’s first #LunchClubLA was a great success. Our goal for the club is to get out in the community to meet local business owners while also meeting with our professional colleagues. Sharing this experience ended up being a perfect way to meet and catch up at the end of the week. Our new club met at Mama’s Secret Bakery & Café last Friday on Third Street in West Los Angeles. We had a great time and ate some Mediterranean/Turkish cuisine which was amazing.
Now, you must try Mama’s Secret Café. Mama’s Secret Café serves as the “go to” for any Turkish transplant that is looking for a taste of home from someone who truly knows Turkish cuisine. They serve delicious Mediterranean food with fantastic service and healthy home food. Mama’s Secret Bakery&Café is a family owned and operated restaurant, literally letting us in on Mama’s Secret recipes from her kitchen in Turkey. Their recipes are all from rich family cookbooks and fortunately they are sharing their knowledge with us Los Angelino's.
We wanted to start our #LunchClubLA meetings with Mama’s Secret Bakery & Café because we have heard so many great things about their authentic menu and food choices, which creates a great experience. Mama’s Secret Bakery & Café offers some delicious, but also unique dishes for us like eggplant with Turkish meat and spices, Manti (ground beef dumplings with yogurt sauce), Turkish meatballs, and so on. In addition, we were served fresh pita bread which comes daily from a local bakery. We really wanted to take the bread with us. We tried nearly everything on the menu and everyone said they loved what they had.
Everyone’s favorite was by far the eggplant dish which comes with Cacik (yogurt, garlic and cucumber) as a side. After we finished our main dishes, we ordered some gozleme (ground beef and feta cheese in the special Turkish dough) to share. Those gozlemes disappeared within seconds. Last, we had the greatest dessert ever. It was Katmer. Katmer is the most famous and delicious dessert in Turkey, made of phillo dough stuffed with cream, pistachios, powder sugar, grilled on a griddle with butter. It is as delicious as it sounds. Special thanks to the owner, Alican Bayar, who lead us in the most delicious and convenient way through the meal.
In conclusion, we were treated very well by Mama’s Secret Bakery&Café and we highly recommend their food for those who look for a homemade experience elevated into a fun and unique atmosphere. Especially, because of the interior design, you feel like you are in your mothers or grandmothers home which just feels comfortable. Again, a huge thanks for our new friends Mama’s Secret Bakery&Café and also the owner Alican Bayar for taking great care. If you have any time to experience Turkish breakfast or lunch food, they are located on 3rd street, check them out. http://www.mamassecretbakery.com
