If you’ve never had Indonesian food before then Ramayani in Westwood is a great place to begin your culinary explorations. However, if you have had Indonesian cuisine and you haven’t been to Ramayani, then get your feet walking over there because it’s really that good! This local family owned restaurant is right down the street from the ATAK offices and we love going there for lunch. Their appetizers are great for groups and the food is unlike anywhere else in the area.
Ramayani was started by husband and wife duo Hertha and Jim Tan in 1983 and have been serving West LA delicious Indonesian cuisine ever since. With over 100 authentic dishes ranging from satays, to soups, fried noodle and fried rice dishes, Ramayani is sure to please any palate. This time around, the noodles dishes were in high demand. Hertha, Ramayani’s leading lady and chef, was kind enough to bring out our food including the Braised Egg Noodles with Shredded Chicken, Singaporean Style Fried Flat Noodles with Pork, and the BBQ Pork and Shredded Chicken Noodles.
The Braised Egg Noodles with Shredded Chicken came with a small bowl of clear chick broth with scallions that you could pour on your noodles. It was a perfect portion and a great option for lunch if you’re sick of salads and want some flavor. If you’re a spicy food lover then you’ll love the Singaporean Style Fried Flat Noodles! It’s for the most daring of spice lovers though, so be prepared to sweat!
