E-Business Infrastructure Strategies and Tips

The Four eBusiness Infrastructures

Technology

A solid technological infrastructure is important to strategy development because the computer systems and machines used will dictate many of the operational tasks. The older or slower the equipment used, the more likely companies with faster machines can come to compete. Knowing the proper point to implement new technologies, and knowing about those technologies helps ensure your business can survive, at least short term.

Capital

If one needs money to move the business forward he or she must have a proper plan in place to acquire or persuade others to loan. In order to compete, certain items need to be in place in today's environment, namely an ecommerce system, web site, legal contracts, marketing material, forms, etc. One must make sure all of these items are attainable given the funds that will be or can be made available.

Media

One must be prepared to vigorously attack the web arena with a solid plan for promotion. The internet environment today allows many smaller companies unlikely to compete in Time Square or Beverly Hills to look large on the World Wide Web. Knowing certain niches or opportunities to set the business apart or tackle avenues not so saturated plays a big role in whether or not a web site will climb the relativity ranks on the search engines when desired keywords are typed in. Knowing what type of content your site must have to climb the ranks is vital. Knowing what time of day most visitors spend most time on your site, knowing how long they stay, where they click from, what part of the country or world can show you where changes in spending should or need to be made.

Public Policy

There are laws, in certain cases, that prescribe certain industry websites to act according to specific industry rules set. For instance, web site for Egg Donation and Surrogacy such as www.familycreations.net. Now, there is a lot of personal information about those people who create profiles for viewing. Those profiles need to be secured so only the administrator and the user can login to edit the profiles. According to law, this site must, among other things, apply access codes that are never repeated for 10 years or so. Had the owners not known, the company could be shut down at the drop of a hat, throwing all of their good, hard work away.
